¢Ù Major Events

Mokwon students have several major events throughout the year. These include Freshman Orientation, Foundation Day, Commencement Day, the Great Festival of the University. Freshman Orientation and registration begin in mid-February. Freshman Orientation activities include an introduction to life at the University as well as special orientations conducted by the departments of the University's colleges. The Foundation Day ceremony is held at the beginning of May and various awards are presented to outstanding school officials and professors who have served Mokwon for 10 or 20 years. Commencement Day ceremonies are held twice a year: at the end of August and again at the end of February. The Festivals feature a number of events including performances, seminars, special lectures and an open market.

¢Ù The General Student Council

The General Student Council consists of Mokwon students. They are a democratic self-governing body which represents the needs of the students, provides them with services and promotes positive links between the university and local communities, and with other universities.
The president and vice-president of the Student Council are elected and they and other core members from each college are in charge of major student events at Mokwon such as Freshman Orientation and
the Grand Festival of the University. The Council consists of eleven departments: the department of general administration, finance, planning, culture, athletics, welfare, facilities, advertisement, and information.

¢Ù Clubs

University clubs offer students a chance to share a broad range of religious, social, cultural, and scholastic interests. They include the Christian Club, the Taekwondo club, the Traditional Korean Music Club and more than 57 other clubs devoted to various fields.

¢Ù Religious Life

The Mokwon chaplain system is an important part of the university organization. The chaplain leads the daily chapel services and the University Church. Every student is required to attend chapel services once a week on a pass/fail system. Students are also required to earn 3 credits in Christian studies during the course of their four-year undergraduate study.
